Understanding your usage meters

AI messages, leads, tokens — what each meter counts, when it resets, and how to read it.

Last updated May 27, 2026

TL;DR. Three meters on Settings → Billing: AI messages, leads saved, and tokens used. AI messages is the common one; tokens is informational. All meters reset on the 1st of each month.

When to use this

When you want to know how much of your plan you're using, or when a feature feels like it's been gated and you're not sure why.

What each meter counts

AI messages. The most-watched meter. It counts every distinct AI call the kit makes on your behalf:

  • Each lead enrichment (when Find saves a new lead) = 1 message
  • Each lead enrichment refresh = 1 message
  • Each Growth Brain section generation = 1–2 messages depending on size
  • Each Connect inbox reply draft = 1 message
  • Each Keep social comment draft = 1 message

This is the meter that, when full, gates Growth Brain regenerations and new lead enrichment.

Leads saved. Just a count of how many leads you've added this month via the Find extension. Capped on Free (50) and Starter (1,000); unlimited on Pro / Team. Note: this is a new this month count, not a total. Your CRM holds all leads ever saved across all months.

Tokens used. The raw count of input + output tokens consumed across all AI calls. This meter is informational only — it's not a separate cap. It's useful if you want a fine-grained view of which feature is costing the most.

When meters reset

All meters reset on the 1st of each calendar month at 00:00 UTC. If you upgrade mid-month, your new plan's caps apply immediately to the remaining month.

What to do when you hit a cap

  1. Check what's eating the quota. The breakdown on the billing page shows which features used what.
  2. Trim where you can. Avoid refreshing enrichment on leads you haven't actually messaged. Use existing Growth Brain reports rather than regenerating.
  3. Upgrade if you're consistently capped. See Plan comparison to pick a tier.

Common questions

Do failed AI calls count? No — if an AI call errors before producing output, the message isn't counted. Partial outputs (rare) do count.

Do I get warned before hitting a cap? Yes — a banner appears once you cross 80% of any meter, and again at 100% when the affected feature is gated.

Can I see historical usage? The billing page shows the current month. Past months aren't yet visible in the UI; if you need historical numbers, email hello@b2bgrowthkit.com.
